A quick guide to FPS.

Recently, I saw a lot of people asking the same question, "Which graphics/settings should I use?"
A lot of people think it's better to play on best settings graphics(1920*1080, 4x anti-aliasing, specular map, shadows,...).
This it true if you have a beast pc(3x sli...), but for most players it's better to turn down the graphics in order to reach more fps.

What are FPS?
Fps is an abbriviation for Frames Per Second. This is the amount of frames your GPU renders every second.
The heavier the graphics you use, the less fps you will reach because it is harder for your GPU to produce more intense frames.

Why more FPS?
People would argue that the human eye can only see 25-30 frames per second in normal conditions and 60 with a lot of adrenaline.
This is true, but in games like Call of duty, players with higher framerates have some huge advantages over players with lower framerates.

Which advantages?
In call of duty, with higher fps, playing will feel smoother which will make it easier to turn and aim (this caps at 90fps, you won't feel the difference above 90fps).
You will also be able to jump higher and run faster. This means that you can rush faster to certain objectives without getting by nades at the start of each round.
You can reach places which you can't reach with lower fps, resulting in serious advantages over other players.
Strafe jumping will be more effective (If you don't know what strafe jumping is, I can make another topic about that).

How reach higher FPS?
You could lower the graphics (which I do) or you could buy a better computer/GPU (expensive).
You will need turn turn off v-sync (verticle sync) in nvidia control panel or AMDs CCC panel ( your graphics cards setting ) in order to achieve these high FPS in game. (NOTE: this is not mandatory for everyone, some graphics cards have v-sync off by default).

Which FPS should I reach?
There are a few fps caps in the game: 125, 250, 333.
Each of them will result in faster sprinting/running and higher jumping, you won't feel a difference in smoothness of the game.
I advise 125 or 250 fps (I play at 250fps), choose the one your computer can handle at playable graphics.
The reason I play at 250 even though 333fps is better is because I (used to) play some promod and 333fps is not allowed in promod.

How can I see my FPS?
There is a console command which let's you displays your fps:
/cg_drawfps 1
You can enable the console in options->multiplayer options.
You can reach the console by the "`" key, left of the "1", under the esc.

Tips & Tricks:
You not only want to reach 250 now and then, you want to have a stable fps, so you need to cap your fps at a certain rate.
You can do this with this console command:
/com_maxfps 250
This wil cap your fps at 250 (which I use), if your pc fails to reach 250 try to cap it at 125 or turn down the grapics even more.
It's better to use 125fps with 4x anti-aliasing over 250fps with no anti-aliasing. Because with anti-aliasing it's easier to look through little gaps, which are glitches/bugs in the map. You're unable to shoot through these gaps but you can see through them and start pre-firing. Examples of these gaps are: the staircase on backlot, the sand-bags on strike,...

Great post scoped! I play on 250fps as well due to promod not allowing 333.

Also, another good thing to add is that you will need turn turn off v-sync (verticle sync) in nvidia control panel or AMDs CCC panel ( your graphics cards setting ) in order to acheive these high FPS in game.

Higher fps in game also allows for some awesome "glitches" you are unable to do with lower FPS

I run at 1920x1080 4x AA ( GTX470 )

i cant have that kind of fps i tried to minimise my graphics but it dont work

Well, your video card was not meant to play video games on. This video card is intended for a home theater PC or just a video card to get the computer up and running.

1GB is pretty good for Memory Size, BUT you need to look at the Memory Interface (bit) size.
This bit size on your video card is 64-bit which honestly, is prettttty small (bad for gaming). You'll want at LEAST 256-bit but i would try and get something higher than 256-bit. Also, the stream processors or (CUDA cores) is another factor. The higher the cores/processors, the faster/better that the video card will perform. If you're kind of strapped on cash, I know that the nVidia 8800GT or ATI HD Radeon 4850 are very cheap $30-$50 and they would perform better in gaming than the video card you have now.
